Did Maria beat Serena fair and square?

I believe so, although many of Serena fans may disagree.
I would say Serena was 10 notches below normal rather than 1000 notches.

I wish Amelie had won. I'm so disappointed.

IMO, I didn't think so, coz Serena could barely hit a hard serve, and barely run. It would be a good match if Serena didn't stuck with injury.

i would say she won it fair, Maria could not help it that serena
got injured. If maria was injured and serena won i would
say the same thing. But hey everybody gets unlucky some
times, and surely this wasn't a great moment for Serena

Maria won, Serena lost. Maria was healthier, Serena injured. Maria won, Serena lost. That's it.

She won fair, it wasn't her fault that Serena got injured.

I actually didn't see Masha racket-hacking Serena in the stomach during changeovers. So Masha must've won fair and square.

Maria deserved the win.....period. End of story....I don´t see how saying: such a shame that Serena got injured, means that Maria didn´t deserve the win.

What's the point of this thread? Did anyone accuse Maria of cheating? No. I don't think so, unless I missed something. Is the thread starter feeling guilty about something he said earlier? Maybe. Did the thread starter start this thread to rub salt into the wounds of Serena's fans? Probably. Is the thread starter a troll? Most definitely.

Can't say much more than has already been said. Maria won it fair and square. Just cos Serena was injured is no reason to suggest she didn't.

YOU HAVEN'T HEARD THE LAST FROM ME!
Because I'm still talking! That's right!

Wasteful, pointless randomness for your amusement.

What sort of reaction do you think tennis fans would have if Maria had been injured, and kept playing through the injury? To add insult to injury [no pun intented], what if Serena would have won due to Maria's "injury?" Please people, leave it alone. There's always a next time. Wait until the Australian Open 2005, [or the 2005 season] and see if their paths cross each other's again. Both these athletes are great tennis players, and it's inevitable that they will get to tournament finals again and again. Also, pray that neither one of these women gets "injured" during their match, otherwise there's another week's worth of posts arguing the authencity of one of players' victories.

"injured"? Why "injured".....seems like you don´t believe the "injury"?

Maria beat Serena fair and square at Wimby. She was too good then.

But the YEC is a different story. Serena was so badly strapped up.
The outcome may had been different if serena wasn't injured

IF Maria Sharapova = Masha
& Maria Kirilenko = Makiri
THEN...
Lindsay Davenport = Linda
Anastasia Myskina = Amy
Conchita Martinez = Coma
Shahar Peer = Shape
Alicia Molik = Almo
Sofia Arvidsson = Soar
Maria Vento Kabchi = Maven
Magdalena Maleeva = Mama
Rennae Stubbs = Rest
Anne Keothavong = Anke
Tamarine Tanasugarn = Tata

That's if Maria starts to play Tier 1 and 2's, instead of the easy 3's and 4's.
