2005:Start of an even Better Williams Era. There's no place to go but up.

I love the fire and passion that this year has put back into both Venus and Serena's hearts. Their whole family has been through hell this year and yet they've still had the courage to play tennis and allow players to build confidence by getting cheap wins off of them. It's amazing that they could both have their worst year on tour, still win high tier tournaments, and still finish the year in the top ten. That's a Phenomenal worst year! Hell if they could do this at their absolute worst, imagine what they are going to do next year since they are both committed to compete at their best. And their best is still the best because nobody since has matched it. Venus and Serena have shown excellence unmatched by any two players of their generation. One bad year can't remove that, nor does it take away the champions they are. As Pam said last night (and this maybe the only time I ever agree with her), beware the injured athlete. After the year they've had this year, you know they are going to be swinging carefree next year. It can't get worst than winning no slams. All the focus and pressure is going to be on Maria and that racquet is going to be a lot harder to swing when everybody's gunning for you and you've got all the pressure. Just ask anybody who’s ever held the spotlight. Anyway, here's to a clean slate and free swinging next year for the Williamses. You've survived your worst year ladies so breathe easy. Like a balloon released from the burden of a heavy weight; there's no where for you to go but up. 2005 is your year and no hater can stop you!!!

Doubts arise regarding Venus.

I´m not worried about Serena.....beating Myskina, Elena D, taking a set off Lindsay, beating Momo, battling with Maria while injuried.....she´s gonna be fine.

Venus not beating a SINGLE top 10 player this year is worrysome....but maybe her not qualifying for the yec, might wake her up a bit.

Both - for many reason (one of them is that they cannot go the whole season without injuries) plus i really think Venus fading!

It is not going to be better than this year.. The field will only be stronger with return of Kim and Justine, Russians who are guaranteed to improve even more, continued rise of Sprem, Golovin and Molik..

Serena will probably be Top 10.. In case she is back on court by Miami time.. I am quite sure with her abdominal strain she is not going to be a threat at AO.

Whether Venus will be a Top 10 is unclear at this point.. I am not sure she cares any longer..

According to some, they would never be successful at all. All because their non-tennis background parents coached them, they stopped playing junior tounaments, and they were siblings. But they still became the only siblings to be ranked 1 & 2 in the world, played the most amount of consecutive grandslams between two players ever, and have won 26 grandslam titles between them. They are the only ones who have power over the future legacy they will leave in tennis. They have proved many wrong.

What, do you have Maria copyrighted or something? I can mention her all I want, you don't own her.

Amazing how you have so much faith in some who have proved much less than Venus and Serena who have proved so much.

It is not about faith.. It is about, mathematically speaking, seeing the derivative..

But Ys....the Belgians are coming from injuries too, so you expect them to start dominating from the going? And what Russians are you talking about?

To me only 3 russians CAN pose a problem for a Serena: Maria, Sveta and Myskina....that´s it. Vera? Not.....not with that volatile temper. Elena D? Not with that serve...

And it is to be seen how good Karolina REALLY REALLY is.

Again....you´re thinking way too much about your russians.
