The reason why Maria never thanked or mentioned Serena in her victory speech.

Because she knew too well that when Serena lost a match it is not Serena playing in there. She remembered too well what Serena just said about the wimbledon defeat.

So i guess it is just rightful to not mention Serena because Serena was not in that YEC finals in the first place. It was an impostor.

Masha is too good to waste her time thanking an opponent who never showed up.

Masha couldn't even put a sentence together. Masha can't think hard enough to grasp the concept of Serena's statements How stupid it was of Masha to show up and play air tennis.

Yeah, I found that interesting.

I at first wondered if Serena would congratulate
Sharapova and she did at the end.

I waited for Sharapova to do the
same and she never did.

Not to mention the crowd was clearly more pro-Serena
and the crowd wasn't all the loud when Sharapova won or
was intorduced to get her award.

If she had said anything about Serena she'd have had
to add that Serena was injured and maybe didn't want
to remind people.

Who knows.

Q. Now you are the No. 1 of your family, in this moment. DINARA SAFINA: Yeah (smiling).Q. Yes, it's true. Are you happy? DINARA SAFINA:
Yeah, very (smiling). No, I mean, you cannot compare me and my brother. I am No. 1, but when he will put
gasoline in himself, he will be again No. 1. But I have to enjoy my time at least when I am now No. 1 (smiling).

I would expect a crowd in Los Angeles, California to be pro Serena: born in California, American. Not too difficult to see why the crowd liked Serena more than Masha. Besides, everybody likes a "fighter:" someone who perseveres despite obvious injury!!
