Go Lindsay! Serena beating Mauresmo was of course the match that it came down to but Dav earned her #1 throughout the season. Serena has only won two titles this year she had to go out and win that for herself, she is so full of self importance I can't imagine her going out to do Dav any sort of a favour. She said in an interview something about helping fellow Americans, I think it would be more in her line to sort herself out!

Yeah, I don't think Serena was serious when she said that she had the #1 ranking for LD in mind. Everybody knows that Serena doesn't know the importance of ranking points because she has never been #1 herself.

Don't start talking about Davenport winning titles this year. She is fit and
played many tournaments and won. Serena on the other hand is been
hindered by injury and could not play any good competitive tournament.
Remember Serena lost 7000 points for being sick and Davenport is just
+4000 points and if you substract from what Serena was having, Davenport
will be 3000 points short and, the fans and herself wouldn't be talking about
ending the year number one.
In fact with good year and all the players played without injury, I think
Davenport could have found herself somewhere rank 6th. Because Venus,
Henin, Clijsters, Mauresmo and maybe Capriati would be above her.
