Post Another award for Dokic

Jelena Dokic has won Yugoslavian Sportswoman of the Year.

Dokic, who flew in to Belgrade from Florida to accept the award was close to tears as she accepted the award.

Here is her acceptance speech:

I'd like to say thank you to everybody on this great acknowledgement. For me this is, at the same time, an honour and an obligation. It is a big thing when somebody receives such an honour in the first year of their return under a flag. I promise that I will be even more successful in the next year.

Dokic also told press reporters that she has started heavy training next season and has worked mainly around her serve.

She will fly into Tokyo on January 23rd to et used to the climate and time zone in Tokyo.

She then flies to Europe to play in some events and then back to the US. She said her first big break will be after Wimbledon, where she plans to take 2-3 weeks off. She will not play week in and week out like last year.

She also said she expects one of the Williams sisters to win the Australian Open. Last time she went shopping, she came back with a brand new Mercedes Benz and now she drives around like crazy!

Also, while in Florida, Jelena has been training with Monica Seles. Jelena said that Monica had recovered from the car accident, lost some more weight and is playing/moving better than ever!

<br />

Jelena Dokic - 2001 Yugoslavian Sportswoman of the Year! Congrats Jelena!

Congratulations Jelena! She deserves it! I am glad she is proud to be Yugoslavian. That is her homeland afterall.

Happiness is like a cat. If you try to coax it or call it, it will avoid you. It will never come. But if you pay no attention to it and go about your business, you'll find it rubbing up against your legs and jumping into your lap. - William Bennett

With her attitude towards her fellow professionals she should be the Taliban Sportswoman of the year

For christs sake she's Yugoslavian then she's Australian then she's not she's Yugoslavian Again.

If you had a vote on this message board I'm sure she would be one of, if not the most disliked player amongst tennis fans.

Couldnt she have at least cracked a smile??

She looks like some foreign dictator looking down over her 'subjects'....'strike a pose' Jelena!! LOL

Of even more significance, there's this little gap in Graf's resume the size of the hole in the ozone layer: It's called Monica Seles. Was Graf the best female player of all time? She wasn't even the best in the heart of her career.

ILUVJELENA - What happened to that huge mole?

It was removed after Wimbledon 2000.

There was a chance it could develop into cancer, so they removed it.

Also, Jelena wasn't posing for this pic. They just took it!
