Thats really great for Australia, I really miss the good ole days when Australia's top female players were Margaret Court, Evonne Goolagong, Kerry Reid, Wendy Turnbull and Diane "what a backhand" Fromholtz!

Nice to see so many Aussies improve this year

I am personally most impressed with Alicia and Evie jumps.

Alicia has a good game, but still, she has a lot to work on. What really impressed me is how she really did progress as the season went on. Things were looking pretty rough when she got double bagelled by Talaj at Melbourne (someone with Alicia's serve should never get double bagelled!), but she kept working, and the results started to come through. Good for her.

Evie also impressed me. She had a really good 2000 Aussie challenger run, and then she performed great at Melbourne. For the past couple seasons, Evie has been in the top 200, and has had the potential to be well higher, but perhaps lacked the confidence necessary to be ranked top 100. This year she went for it, worked hard, and had many great tournament results. I hope that she keeps the belief in herself and keeps improbing.

"Religion has actually convinced people that there is an invisible man living in the sky who watches everything you do, every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a special list of ten things he does not want you to do. Any if you do any of these ten things, he has a special place, full of fire and smoke and burning and torture and anguish, where he will send you to live and suffer and burn and choke and scream and cry forever and ever 'til the end of time!

But he loves you."

Good News .. .Molik has Top 20 potential she really suprised me with how well she played this year considering her results during the Australian Summer. She will be on the move in 2002

Thumbs up

You are so right Big Lindsay.... Dianne's Fromholtz's/Balestrat's backhand was to die for!!!!!!!! Unfortunately I only caught her after her comeback not much beforehand

Molik, Evies, Stosurs and Wheeler are the most impressive - in which I think they have geuninely made big strides. Lets some of the others who have regained their previous positions i.e. Stewarts, Watsons, Ellwoods kick on with opportunities during the Oz Summer!

There's more to life than just being happy.

glad to see Evie having a breakthru year in 01 , hope she can repeat or better in 02.

I'm looking out for Dubravca Cupac , hope she's got it within her.

Rochelle Rosenfield finally starts to make it good , she should crack 200 fairly soon by RG hopefully.

I forsee Evie slipping back this year. I hope I'm wrong but I just feel that she's lost too much weight and confidence in the past few months.

Certainly Australia has a lot of talent coming through. I think Molik is certainly a top 30 player and would be disappointed if she doesn't reach that mark this year.

TBE I would be wrapped if Rochelle can break into the top 200 by RG! Apparently she is a very unorthodox player and not really seen as a player with much potential! Her results though have been pretty good this year after returning from injury.

I agree whole heartedly that Bryanne & Annabel definitely deserve Aus Open main draw wildcards. The other two are harder to distribute with Mary Pierce likely to get one! I think Stosur or Dowse will be given the other which I feel would be the wrong choice

U probablity don't like the Aussie men cos they aren't underdogs and are overly hyped which is understandable, its the same reason that I don't like most of the top female players
