Maria won 12 matches in a row, 50th win in 2004!?

She scored her 2nd top 5 win in her career, 1st in Wimbledon against Lindsay.
Good Job.

She hasn't beaten anyone inside the top 50 in this winning streak. Look at many of her wins this year and it's less than impressive.

Go Ai, Venus, Na, Tamarine!

But this is already the 2nd double digit winning streak she has this year.
I think it is worthy of a note. She'll take on Venus and prove herself.

Beating Venus should prove to be impressive.

You can't play against players ranked about 60 or so below you and call that a credible winning streak. She has a two match winning streak.

The way I see it is that WTA will call it as a record, so I'll just call it as well.

I am totally impressed by her performance today (amazing)...but still: I am totally not impressed by her last two tourney wins!!! Maybe this time she can win a regular tourney better than Tier III

True. It's a record no matter who you beat.

It is not as impressive because of the lower tiers, but win streaks are impressive no matter what. Sprems was impressive on the ITF circuit, as well as Li Na's. The reason is even if you are a great player it is difficult to go out their and consistently win against any professional tennis player. Not to say that Masha's win streak is as good as any (clearly Tier 1 or a GS in their would be better), but it isn't like she's only won two matches.

Aren't you the one who started the thread about Sveta's number of wins too?

Jeez, the jinx-ing is ensuing.

What does Maria have to do to get some credit around here. Go the entire year undefeated? If she wins this title will she be given credit for it, it is a Tier I. And everyone knowsa how she does not like to play those big scary tournments.
