Wow, I am so glad to see somebody has remembered Yayuk!!!
I will never forget her run at the Canadian Open in 1996. Little Yayuk stormed through the draw, beating a number of top seeds. Unfortunately she was drubbed in the semis by Monica. However, she very much impressed me with that great run and I followed her career ever since that. It was also nice to see her return to Wimbledon in 2000 after she announced her retirement in 1999. She had a great game and probably the best serve I have ever seen for a short player. I suppose she has retired for good now since her name hasn't appeared in doubles draws.

Glad to see somebody remembers this wonderful Asian star.

You bet!!! I was right there in the second round when she took down one of my favorites, Iva Majoli in straight sets. Even though she beat one of my faves, I really liked her crafty game and I followed her throughout the rest of the tournament. IMO, her match against Amy Frazier in the quarters of that event was the match of the event, with Yayuk winning 6-2 2-6 7-5. She really paved the way for rising Indonesian stars like Angelique Widjaja and Wynne Prakusya.

She was really good and an inspiration for all asian girls, I think with Kimiko they made tennis mauch more popular in Asia, IMO is for things like this why tennis players should go in Hall of Fame and not only for results, Im sure players as Conchita, kimiko MJ Fernandez....will never be in that hall and they have made a lot for tennis

I started watching tennis because i really liked dominique monami, later vanroost.
She was so tiny and fragile but boy what a fighter she was......
I was really sorry when she retired but then my absolute fav Kim helped me get over it
Dominique is happy now with her daughter ,and if she's happy,I'm happy!!!!!!!

Anna was for sure not the youngest to beat a number 1!
Martina and JC did at 15(Steffi in 96,Monica in 91)

My fav isn`t in the top 10 but she will always rule

In the middle of the night
I go walking in my sleep
Through the desert of the truth
To the river so deep
We all end in the ocean
We all start in the streams
We're all carried along
By the river of dreams
In the middle of the night
