Now that Kuznetsova passes Myskina in the race standing....

She has the highest standing in all Russian players.....
She will probably play both singles and doubles in WTA Champ.

Sveta is leading money earner on the tour so far in 2004. Right now she's third in 2004 points behind Lindsay and Amelie.
Sveta will probably have to win the YEC to be year end #1.

Go Sveta!! I think she is the most talented Russian player. btw, she looks cute to me.

but, I do hope that Nastya will play some great tennis out there, she's having some bad results recently>.<

I don't think Sveta will finish 2004 at #1 either. Unless she wins the YEC.
But I think a top 4 seeding in Melbourne is very possible.

The Tier Is have been won by Mauresmo (3) , Davenport (2), Justine (1+gold), Venus (1), Serena (1).. the first two lead the standings.. the later three have played very irregularly, and sometimes inconsistently.

Kusnetsova's year has been pretty comparable to Myskina. They both won a Tier II event, SK has reached the finals at 3 other Tier IIs.. Myskina the final of a Tier I (SD)..

Sveta has been healthy the whole year. If she stays healthy, she should finish 2004 in the top 3 in both ranking and money earned on court.

no, she won't end the year #1, and no she won't win the YEC. that is a round robin format, and it definitely doesn't favor her. myskina is a better indoor player anyway. she's a great player and all, but she benefitted from quite a lot of circumstances to win the us open, and that is about the only great thing she has done all year besides beating justine one week and winning eastbourne.

Sveta may or may not win the YEC. But she's won 9 matches in a row, and she has nothing to defend in 2004.
She wasn't at the YEC last year. She was losing in qualies last autumn.
Now she's the Russian #1 in 2004 points.

Only to the main tournaments, when was the last time she did something big in a tier 1 event?
