I expected Venus would win this match. I didn't think it'd be so ugly. But she's really going to have to cut down the errors if she wants to get to the quarterfinals.

What a hideous match. HIDEOUS! Although, I'm glad Vee picked up her game ever so slightly at the end. And I'm also glad she ended the last set with a 40-15 hold instead of going to like 48392049032 deuces!

Her forehand... good God. Just dumping easy forehands into the net or sending them like 10 feet long.

Anyway, she will REALLY have to pick up against Lindsay who is playing great if she wants to make a run here.

But anyway, although it wasn't a great match, you made it through and I'm proud of you as always Vee!

I agree with that, but the match wasn't as bad a Tracy made it out to be. The differential in Venus' winners/UE's was -9 (37-46, I think). Tracy's darling, Maria, made about the same amount of UE's. The difference: Venus is still in the tournament and just bumped her down to number seven in the Champions race.

I wasn't really paying much attention to Tracy, but it was pretty crap in terms of quality. But, Venus wins and she'll go against Lindsay now.

Why on earth was chanda net rushing? She can beat Venus in a rally - her forehand was better and Venus has yet to show she can either rally very long or keep on going for 3 sets without breakingdown. Why end it quickly when you gain from making the points and the match longer and when Venus's balls keep on shooting by you with "stay back" written on them?

I actually rather Venus play crap now, than play crap later.

Because those 6-1 6-1 wins followed by losses strategy didn't work

Venus' backhand is better and that was the difference in the match, I think.

Too bad for Chanda who had chances in both sets but couldn't come up with the goods when she needed to. She obviously still has some rust to shake off but she did crack some sensational winners which is a good sign.

Congrats Vee She'll definitely need to pick up her game and cut down the UEs if she expects to beat Lindsay.

I really think Vee needs to improve her game by hiring a new coach to help with her forehand and serve. Vee is way to talented to struggle in every match, with her speed, strength, shot making ability there is no reason why she shouldn't win more, but her serve and forehand are such liabilities that they cost her matches.

I agree, did she have a death wish? There were times when she was running in after anything, even to the Venus backhand. When she rallied and kept it deep to Venus's forehand, she was getting errors.

I think Venus is doing well to win a match like that despite all the errors. It really is down to Venus - hits errors like tonight and it's close or cut down errors and she would win pretty easy. Errors kept Chanda close, and her net rushing didn't help her when she should have played for more errors by hitting deep to the forehand.
