What should Maria do now?

i think it's a bit soon to talk about retirement. okay, so she's had a pretty poor year, winning just two titles, and has had a string of early exits in recent times, but I think she should stick around a bit longer, even just for entertainment value. She's done enough on the court to shed the Kournikova Mark II tag, but clearly she's not pulling off the results any more.

Perhaps a 2-3 month break to work on her consistency and attitude?

You have long been my goal, been my chasing, been my soul. I have hung out on the edge. But I just couldn't let go. There's a time to forgive. There's a time to forget. Close your eyes, get ready, set. Walk me down this fall I'm taking but don't let me go yet. Oh let me go, sweetheart, throw me, around you, like you know me. And remember me too. Remember me too from a dream i had of you. Mary Margaret O'Hara | Dream I Had | Apartment Hunting | 2002.

She won "just" 2 titles? I wouldn't say you have a bad season when you win Wimbledon...

Anyway...She should get some rest...Forget about this loss...Improver her game and have fun on her Asian tour...

On the long run this loss is of no importance...Right now it's tough to deal with...But she should forget about it as soon as possible and concentrate on the future...
She's only 17 and has a long future ahead of her...

When Maria turns 20, 21, 22, she will be a BAD bitch, esp. on grass!

Just not now.

Maria should keep doing what she is doing. She will eventually improve. What the media and everyone should stop doing is hyping her up until she win more slam. Give it time. The way things are no one is really dominant and you never know who's going to win. Even Federer had to win more before they called him the best tennis player. They knew he had the potential to be the best after winning one slam and some tourneys. Now after winning more slams and watching his game grow it's pretty obvious who's the best even if he loses here or there.

um, take her ass home and practice like anyone else would.

I don't think she's in need of a sports psychologist for losing in the third round. She's had a great year.

Allez Mahree! Udachi Masha!

the end.

Federer Blake Fish Roddick Grosjean Bryans x2

Pretty poor year, winning just two titles?

She's a 17 year old who currently holds the Wimbledon title...

Poor Maria - I can't imagine how she must feel with such a weight of expectation... *shakes head*

So long, signature...

Of course she should retire. Winning just one Slam by the age of 17? Good Lord, she is a terrible player and should never come back.

She just needs to relax and not let this loss take away her confidence what she is going through is nothing new to anyone who has had a significant breakthrough.

You have got to be joking!! I will say it again, the girl is only seventeen years old!! She has probably 8-10 years to do whatever she is going to do in tennis. I guaratee you that by this time next year,Sharapova will be damn near unbeatable. On grass, no one will even be able to hold a flame to her. You mark my words,bloc_party.

No, he wasn't. She should retire. She hasn't won a Slam for 3 months already. How pathetic is that? Goodbye, Maria!
