Serena Williams Tennis diva Serena Williams is using the U.S. Open as a platform to launch another assault on the search charts. Currently in our top 100 searches, her star is rising thanks to some well-timed wardrobe stunts at the tennis tourney. Queries on the top American player are up 278% this week and she's piquing male interest with her well-toned, athletic look -- 76% of her searches came from men. After she appeared on court in long black boots, queries on "Serena Williams boots" went from zero into the hundreds, and searches on photos and pictures of the fashionista with the deadly serve spiked dramatically. Another American tennis star volleying in search is buff Jennifer Capriati, up 491% this week. Wimbledon darling Maria Sharapova also saw a surge (204%) this week, keeping her firmly planted in our top 500 searches. As for the tournament, searches on the U.S. Open, up 1,006%, came mostly from men, by a 60 to 40 margin. Interest in the Open also skews older, with 27% of queries served up by the 35-44 age bracket. The Open grabs most of its searches from the Northeast, with NYC leading the way, followed closely by Hartford, CT; Philadelphia; and Boston. The only metro west of the Mississippi even cracking the top 20 in searches is L.A. at #14.
