Patricia Tarabini retires. :(

From: http://www.lanacion.com.ar/edicionim...nota_id=633153

(English translation below)

PATRICIA TARABINI
despedida

After falling in doubles together with Gisela Dulko, in the first round, against the Chinese Zi Yan and Jie Zheng, 6-1, 7-5, Patricia Tarabini said goodbye to the professional tennis circuit, which she had been a part of since 1987. At 36 years old, the player from Tandil said, "I would exchange my whole career for the bronze medal I won with Paola Suárez in Athens. Tennis was my life and it left me all I have, my friends and a profession". The player from Tandil, world junior champion in 1986, has already received offers to work a a coach in Chile with Horacio de la Peña, or in the USA for the local federation.

But, well done to Pato for a great career and best of luck to her for whatever she decides to do in the future.

She is only 36 years old??
I thought she looked older than that...

Seriously... I think winning the bronze in the Olympics was a great way to finish.
Good luck !!!

nice player and person. always seemed to have fun and encourage everyone else on court to have fun. she should be in high demand as a coach. she could help a lot of players.

You have long been my goal, been my chasing, been my soul. I have hung out on the edge. But I just couldn't let go. There's a time to forgive. There's a time to forget. Close your eyes, get ready, set. Walk me down this fall I'm taking but don't let me go yet. Oh let me go, sweetheart, throw me, around you, like you know me. And remember me too. Remember me too from a dream i had of you. Mary Margaret O'Hara | Dream I Had | Apartment Hunting | 2002.

Hopefully Paola will start teaming up with the youngster Gisela now.
Anyways, great job winning that bronze medal.

Good Bye Pato! I will always remember you!

It's so great she could end her career with that bronze medal, probably the best achievement in her life, at the age of 36!
