Anastasia Myskina will have no chance reaching #1 in the fall after her early exit!?

Anastasia Myskina has missed her boat for that #1 ranking for the rest of the year.

As soon as US Open is over, her 2 titlist points from last year will start to drop off one week after another, and she has another finalist points to defend. So this loss pretty much killed her chance at reaching #1, and she probably has missed the boat. And this time during the indoor season, Williams sisters are back, Kim Clijsters is back. It'll be great if she can improve her records last year, but it'll be pretty hard, but if she does, she'll probably end up the year as #1 in the world. But that's a pretty long shot.
So good luck Amelie.

In term of points, she'll probably be behind the US Open winner by at least 600 pts, so she'll have to make up more than 1000 points during the indoor seasons, which is equivalent of 1 YEC + 2 high tier titles, but that's with the top players not gaining points....if she can do that, bravo, but a long shot of course.

Shame, because with a Slam in hand she deserves it more than Amelie right now. But personally I'd be happy to see Justine keep it for a while, or Lindsay to retire as # 1. The less people that rank # 1 the more of an honour it is for those who get it.

Does Anastasia deserve it more than Mary Pierce, Jana Novotna or Conchita Martinez who won Slams but never got there? Hard to say.

Mirjana Lucic : Australian Open doubles champ and back in Top 100

Jelena Jankovic : US Open finalist 2008 and World No. 1

Jennifer Capriati : 3 Grand Slams, Olympic Gold and World No.1

Rafael Nadal : 10 Grand Slams, Olympic Gold and World No.1

She has her Tier I Moscow points to defend and Leizpig points come off (where she beat #1 Kim an #2 Justine which gave her 175 quality points) so it is looking very unlikey, yes.

She can't add much either. The USO isn't in her 17 top points as she got less than 72 which is her last counting tournament. She has to win more than last year and hope Lindsay and Momo crash out sooner rather than later. Justine if she comes out of the USO ahead of Momo could be number 1 for a very long time (how many weeks so far?).

Sad really. Two good matches in canada, two more matches at Sopot and one good game followed by a match against Momo who was very beatable at the Olympics and she might have come to the USO on a high. You have to think something physical is wrong though as her serve is off so often and there were reports of injury. You wonder if today was just nerves or ao off day or like Hingis at Wimbledon after FO99 too.

What's wrong with her? It's a pitty she lost so early. I would have loved to see her as the 14th Number 1 Player in the world.

yep, her chances of being #1 are gone, i dont see her doing that in the indoor season, too many points to defend from Moscow and Leipzig, and I think her schedule sofar is : Bali , Filderstadt and Moscow.

GO MARTINA HINGIS!!!!!!!!
Myskina, kirilenko, chakvetadze. Douchevina, Petrova, Clijsters, Zvonareva, Dementieva, Vaidiosava, Voskoboeva, !!!!!

No she is just using the indoor tournaments as practice to get some of the rust off she isn't putting any pressure on her performance in those events but hopes to use them to help her play her best at AO.

How far did Myskina go at the USO last year? She might even drop a fair bit as she'd probably have been defending a lot more points than she got.

Why is it that the world never remembered the name of Johann Gambolputty de von Ausfern-
