Why did Mary Carillo go to Athens to be a studio host instead of a tennis analyst?

Mary Carillo is one of the best tennis analysts in the world and she's being used in the studio to set up Oympic events on the Bravo channel. She's pretty good as one of the Bravo channel's studio hosts but she should be working the tennis matches analysin gthem for the viewers like she does for NBC and CBS. I like Barry McKay and Jim Courier, but Mary is one of the best tennis analysts and she should be working these matches or atleast some of them. Does Jim Courier know more about women's tennis than Mary Carillo does? No. And McKay and Courier have montotone voices while Carillo's voice is filled with colorful emotion.

Does Mary have 1 or 2 sons? I think her oldest child a son was born in 1987. But I'm surprised he would tell you about the financial reasons. Thanks for the tip Mr. Myskina.

I love Mary Carillo...I also really like the Venus but I never get the sense that she doesn't like them...that's an unfair thing to say I think.

Go Ai, Venus, Na, Tamarine!

I agree that Carillo should be in the booth, but I know she has experience with other sports/doing hosting duties, and the money comment seems on track... it's too bad because as much as Barry MacKay seems like a nice guy, he is next to worthless as a commentator (IT'S deuce... SECOND serve... it's now 15-30, up a break...)

And Barry McKay finds the need to say "ooh that's just in" and "It caught the back of the line" DURING the points!! He's a lot better than he was on FSN with Leif Shiras...

Go Ai, Venus, Na, Tamarine!

Law and Order, I never got the feeling Mary Carillo doesn't like the Williams sisters. But Tracy Austin loves to pick apart Serena's forehand.

And Martina Navratilova hasn't retired yet because she's still a tennis junkie at heart. She might need the money and she can still play good doubles so it makes sense she still plays doubles.

Good points pcr.

Thanks Mr. Myskina. It's nice that Mary got the work the women's and men's gold medal matches as the world class analyst she is.

No, the reason Mary's not in the booth is because she still hasn't recovered from that stroke she suffered when nastya defeated Venus and Jennifer back to back in Paris.

I like Mary Carillo for one of the reasons that John Wertheim (Sports Illlustrated) used in a recent article on US tennis analysts. he said she has no 'allegiance' to any player. She isn't a mentor to any WTA player, she isn't the Fed Cup Coach, her relatives are not agents for any player. So she can speak freely and boy does she ever. Sometimes you get pissed cuz it's your fave she is giving her 2 cents on but most of the time you can just laugh at some of the things she says. Mainly her little tid bits of gossip.

In last nights doubles (men) gold medal match (awesome by the way) Jim Courier said " we are staying with live tennis here in Athens you can watch McGiver any other night "
