I'm just very, very disappointed in them. I don't think tennis is that important to them any more and that's fine. It's just that I'm a firm believer in that if you're going to do something, give it your best. Don't do anything half-ass. So, with that in mind, if they are not interested in playing any more, don't play. But, if they are really interested in getting back on top, they really need to focus on tennis, leave the outside interests alone for a minute, get new coaches and get a new attitude.

This is supposed to be a therapeutic thread!

Venus did nothing half-ass!

She did the best she could on that day
competing for herself and her country!
And I find it insulting to question one's
desire when they've shown to the point of their
own detriment health-wise(Venus especially) that they want to play!

Rant over!

Love, peace, and harmony!

All I can say is easier said than done. Having been a Martina Hingis fan lo these last few years it was evident that she too was not as focussed nor committed to the sport. ..it happens...in Martina's case she was enjoying the luxury of doing "other" things and of course her boyfriends became a distraction..as with the Williams sisters...they both are "talented" in other ways..Serena with her acting ambitions and Venus with her fashion flair...so much wealth leads to other "interests" they will have to rededicate themselves to hard training and motivation to once again get to the top. .unfortunately Martina, because of her injuries could not regroup!

Frankly, I fail to understand some "fans". It's cool that they have outside interests when they are dominating (00-01-02-half of 03), but as soon as they slump (which is all injury related, I may add), their outsides interests are a problem. It doesn't make any sense to me.

I wish health for the girls. I believe once they get 100% healthy, they'll be confident in their movement, and shots again.

Good luck Venus
Good luck Serena

And saying that was therapeutic for me. As a long time fan, I think I'm entitled to say what I said.

I'm not talking about this particular tournament, I'm talking about Venus and Serena's matches this year overall. They are so much better than what they are playing. I know injuries have factored in, but do they factor in when they win matches or just when they lose? I personally don't think that Venus did the best she could on that day against Mary. It's time to make some changes somewhere. What I find insulting is calling yourself a true fan and not being able to see the faults of your favs. Looking at them through rose-colored glasses and hoping for the best doesn't help the situation. I think it's time the fans stood up and stopped enabling them. I know we are not in their camp, but maybe they do read what their fans have to say, and maybe just maybe it will sink in.

Hey Vee and Rena...You know I love you girls with all my heart...but SHIT OR GET OFF THE POT!!!!

While I was sad about the loss I was able to put things into prespective.

The good thing is now I won't have to fight with so many haters constantly. Venus' decline should make people leave her alone soon, because they will just overlook her altogether.

IMO though this year is a total scrap for Venus. I think she will have to resurge next season.

And although the haters are out to mock her loss, it's actually a lot less than it was when she was dominating. I actually like the peace. And at least now we as fans can be a little more relaxed cause there isn't a lot of expectation.

As for Serena....she's in an odd situation. Girl just can't bring it in finals, but I think she's healing up and I expect Serena back before this season is over.

I think if anything, Venus' slump in form has brought her fans here closer together which is good coz as luna said, when Venus dominates the tour, all the haters come out in full force and we all need to be united to tackle them.(umm, a bit cheesy i know, let me get the sick bucket! )
I just can't wait till the day that Venus wins a slam again, how sweet and awesome will that be. I bet Venus would even get emotional , well maybe a lil bit.
