Well if I put 1st round, I bet that would get 50% of the votes for obvious reasons although its not realistic at all.

I voted semi's. why not?

Why is it that the world never remembered the name of Johann Gambolputty de von Ausfern-

prob 4th or quarters, she hasn't shown very top level hardcourt tennis yet, dependent on seeding and draw, when she faces a real quality opponent we'll see, for now i'll go...quarters i guess

It will always be Arantxa, hall of famer! and martina hingis and kim clijsters - amazing legends
ana ivanovic and the italian girls, especially pennetta (forza azzurre! RG CHAMP FRANCESCA AND FINALIST SARA!)
aga, vika, sam, na in the next tier
NEVER say "I don't care who wins, I just want good tennis"

Quarters, because she's not as good on hardcourts. It'll all depend on her draw though.

QF or SF most probably, but anything can happen.

Anyone seeded 1-8 will take her out, so I say quarterfinals at the best. And if she catches a lower seed on a hot streak like Mary Pierce or Alicia Molik, she'll be gone before that.

Lindsay Davenport|Elena Bovina|Marissa Irvin|Tatiana Golovin|Mary Pierce|Sesil Karatantcheva|Cara Black|Clarisa Fernandez

So far Maria hasn't been too impressive on hardcourt...Although she played a great match against an unleashed Vera Zvonareva...
Perhaps Maria can get some more rest now, since the Wimbledon circus is dying down....And she didn't play any tournaments for a while...
So, it's difficult to tell...If she has managed to improve her game a bit in the last couple of weeks...Than a semifinal is possible...Maybe more when she really manages to improve her game and when the Williams sisters don't raise their levels quickly...
But of course there are so many factors...How will JHH play? How will Myskina play? Zvonareva also impressed me...It's just difficult to tell...
Anyway, I voted for semifinals...

I think the Quarters or even Semis are very much a realistic expectation for Maria at the US Open.
Im looking forward to seeing her back in GS action and itll be a good chance to see where she's at.
The pressures off a little, since the "Wimbledon Circus" as Frank put it, has quietened down.

I'll stick my neck out and predict semi's. Maria always seems to push herself more at the slams.

But I doubt she will be victorious, because hard courts aren't her favourite surface. She has the potential to win the US Open in a few years, but not right now.
