A lot of people noticed that there are irritatingly high numbers of unforced errors in nearly every match which has been played in Athens...
We did a little bit of calculating while following a match online and apparently it seems like that a lot of points are count as UEs, though it should be a forced error or whatever kind of "not so unforced" errors. They just count everyting in. When you count the UEs from the one player and the winners from the opponent together and see the difference between that number and the number of the total points there were only like 5 forced errors which is absolutely impossible.
Example: Venus vs. Pierce

Venus total points: 67
UEs hit by Pierce:
Winners hit by Venus:
34 + 23 = 57 points...
Total points (67) - 57 = 10
Those 10 points then have to be considered as "forced errors", but you have to take away the 4 Aces from Venus and the 5 Service winners she hit...
10 - 9 = 1...
Basically that means that Pierce had to give just ONE point away due to a forced error!
Pierce´s total points: 76
UEs hit by Venus:
Winners hit by Pierce:
51 + 17 = 68 points...
Total points (76) - 68 = 8
Mary hit 2 Aces and 1 service winner...
8 - 3 = 5...
that means Venus had to lose 5 points due to a forced error.
I am pretty sure that something doesn´t really fit in this calculation, but I really have the feeling that the people over there count a lot of points as Unforced errors or they just don´t see forced errors at all...
Second example: Sprem vs. Sugiyama
Short version: Sprem got 55 of her total 59 points
due to her 17 winners, the 30 UEs from Ai, her 5 aces and 3 service winners...Ai lost 4 points because of forced errors she commited!
Sugiyama received 71 of her total 75 points
due to 64 (!) UEs from Sprem and her own 7 (!) winners. She didn´t hit an ace nor an service winner...which means Ai only forced Sprem four times to hit an error!
Is it only me or is this just weird?!? I guess I am the one who´s weird...they write a lot of points down by hand, so maybe this is the reason why it´s hard to tell which one is a forced error and which one isn´t...
