A fine, balanced match overall. Look for the full 4th game of the second set if you have a chance. Both played their best there. Surely Julia didn't play the perfect match either, but her percentage of risks taken on her big strokes being higher, that was somewhat expected against a consistent and challenging player like Aga, who looks slowly back to form.
Big serves from Aga at 4-4 and 30-30 in the second set were decisive to keep a 5-4 lead. Then Aga had to break Julia and was two points from the match, but Julia, despite being rather hit and miss, managed to stay in. Aga held to love next, with an ace to keep a 6-5 lead again.
It was up to the German to stay in this match with her big strokes, but Aga's consistency decidedly took over on the third match point.
