:haha:

Vee really destroyed her soul with that delicious Wimbledon spanking. Now can't even servebot to save her life when her ugly technique is exposed by more skilled players like Barty.

Always a delight to see Konta lose. :hearts: :cheer:

Barty is almost as basic, but she is *slightly* preferable to the Velociraptor.

Players are figuring out Konta's basic attack game strategy of return side to side until an error happens or short ball is returned to set up a winner. Similar to Bouchard but Jo can keep the ball in play on longer rallies and is a better defender & server.

And this not being an MM, Barty will probably show her usual tournament run and will be stopped easily in R3 then she will continue in doubles with Dellacqua to the QF, SF, or Final. :spit:

Terrible brainfart from Konta while only 2 points away from clinching a victory on her own serve - was 5-4 30-30 than two points lost while her opponent was in deep defence and Konta having upperhand in both rallies, first after she hit forehand centrally to Barty - DTL was a sure winner with Jo being 2 metres inside the court and than that failed smash.

Such an illustrious demonstration of her slump.

Barty won on her 1st MP with dropshot return winner. Well played tiebreak and match from her.

*pretends to be shocked*

Officially a slump.

NID after she couldn't serve it out at 5-4 30-15. Was on her racket at the end, good serving would've done it. But her problem is more the mental now - basically the old Jo. Can't finish off matches anymore. At Wimbledon, showed fantastic
mental, but now has none at all. wish I could explain it.

Disappointing considering she went from playing the worst she's ever played in the last two years in set one, to getting some consistency and showing good signs, hitting both sides well enough and serving 7 aces in the final couple of sets. Hit a fantastic shot to put her at 30 all in the 5-3 game in the final set.

It is sad because I feel like if Jo can just get a win and end the little streak, she'll move past it all and begin to play consistently well again. Could've potentially done that today.

Onto Beijing where she'll draw another in form top 50 player to open proceedings.

She needs a walking BYE in round one or something. What a disaster after having a top 5 season for the first 6/7 months.

Well played TB by Barty. :yeah: Konta missed smash on crucial point on this match, but Barty earlier in that game hit 2 winners and put pressure on Konta.

The better and more skilful player deservingly won.

Watching Barty play can be a real joy at times, she produces so much variety as we saw on MP with that beautiful drop shot winner off Konta's serve.

Jo is in a slump, she has weapons but her play can be so erratic and unwatchable, as seen over the past month. Always produces the same type of shitty unforced errors, especially on the forehand side. Sooner she's out of the top 10 the better.

maybe Konta trying to not qualify for Singapore while trying

Mladenovic & Stephens are doing their best effort to prevent it meanwhile ... :spit:

Maybe Sveta will, who knows?
