Eguchi won the first game and then almost a double bagel. Marketa winning 12 pts in a row at a moment and 9 games in a row. 41% 1st serves in for her, but winning 93% of those points and 75% of the points on second serve.
I wouldn't read too much into this result althought Marketa is obviously playing pretty well. That said, one shouldn't forget Misa Eguchi has been struggling a lot since coming back from a very severe knee injury a few months ago.
I do hope Misa is able to regain her pre-injury form given time. But, sadly it hasn't been going well so far. She has yet to beat a top 300 opponent and against top 300 players she is 0-20 in sets won. What makes it even more bitter is that at the time she tore the ligament in her knee she was on the verge of cracking the top 100.
So basically I don't think one can read too much into how Marketa is playing from this match and given that her next opponent doesn't look likely to test her either, I think we will have to wait until the quarterfinals gauge her form.
LOL He won't because he's never been to those countries. Italian people - especially Southern Italians - would never go to those cities on vacation. They would go there only for business reasons if necessary. And this guy sounds like those deluded teen-agers that think they know everything. He definitely doesn't sound like a business man that has traveled the world.
He probably read on google search or trip advisor that Istanbul is less expensive than Singapore.
I wouldn't read too much into this one. Eguchi is struggling a lot in her comeback. Steffi Vögele is struggling a lot too but she played a far better match today so she'll be more of a real test for Maky.
