Re: Seoul F: Ostapenko def. Hadad Maia 67 61 64

Did she vulture a title? Yes.
But was she exciting to watch? Yes.
And did she fill that stadium in the process? Yes.

Can't believe I watched this ridiculous mess of a match. Hadad, despite being so tall, is so basic in everything that she makes Svitolina look like a beast. Can't believe Ostapenko struggled to beat her.

Re: Seoul F: Ostapenko def. Hadad Maia 67 61 64

The crowds

Seoul should be upgraded to at least a Premier tbh, the crowds bring some of the tournaments in Europe/USA and even China to shame

The match overall was a hot mess, first set was terrible from both, pretty much who made the less errors won. (27UEs for Haddad Maia in that first set compared to 33 for Ostapenko )

In the second set, Jelena just hit winner after winner on the lines and Beatriz had no answers.

In the third set it was break after break after break and both players were very up and down, but ultimately Jelena played her best game of the set to win the match.

1st WTA title outside of RG, and what a place to do it, in front of an amazing crowd in an awesome city.

A mess as I expected but definitely never boring Both players struggled to hold in the final set but Aljona finished that last service game off at love like it was nothing 6 aces in this match! So happy she managed to win her first WTA title

This tournament definitely needs an upgrade - great crowds all week especially considering S Korea doesn't have a top player!

So many breaks of serve in that last set

Ostapenko continues her great year

Nice fight, gritty attitude, but the real question is, is Jelena Ostapenko a hottie? I can't decide

Re: Seoul F: Ostapenko def. Hadad Maia 67 61 64

Predictably, she served it out like a boss, after the carnage of all her previous service games

Her poor mother will end up in a home for the demented though, munching on grains of Valium, if she has to endure that for the next few years

The crowd was amazing in every way: Huge, enthusiastic and fair

Aljona So happy for her, and so proud of how she served it out after all those breaks Far from her best match but she played really well on return and hit some big shots when it mattered.

The atmosphere today was insane. This tournament should be the Premier of this week, the court speed and crowds are far better than Tokyo. Tennis really seems to be growing in Korea
