Seoul SF: (1) Ostapenko def. (Q) Kumkhum 3-6 6-1 6-3

It wasn't pretty or easy but Aljona got the job done!
She doled out a virtual bagel in the final set, coming back from 0-3 down.
First final since winning RG Get that title girl!

Luksika Great run for her from qualies, hopefully she can build on this tournament.

This was fun! Sigh of relief that Jelena broke to win.

Luksika deals with pace coming right at her so well, but Ostapenko was not to be denied.

Just another day at the office for Jelena. Loses the first set, runs away with the second, goes 0-3 down in the third, serving atrociously ... and still wins

There were some great counter-attacking points from Kumkhum, but in the end the pressure and maybe the fatigue of 6 matches in 8 days told.

That was a very big (and enthusiastic) crowd for an International match, and it will probably be even bigger for the final. The organisers must be thanking their lucky stars for Ostapenko, and - for once - that they have such a big stadium. Once again, it shows how wrong the Wimbledon schedulers were to keep relegating the Roland Garros champion to minor show courts

Yes I remember those clowns kept putting this champion girl on like Court 12

It is because she is Eastern European. If Ostapenko was from the West? 20 year old GS champ? Oh, CC every round.

Korea always seems a really good little tournament. Just a pity they didn't get a couple more big stars there this year but suppose they had Aljona so what more do you need.

Highly entertaining as always.

Looking forward to the final to cheer me up tomorrow as I fear the one in Japan could have a really depressing outcome.

watch large part of the match cos i don't feel like doing anything today

tfw no.155 has a better serve than you

in a way this makes me appreciate JOJO more but sadly i feel her serve gonna stay like this for the rest of her career

imagine her serve becomes reliable one day imagine it becomes a weapon one day

Kumkhum is so good at absorbing and redirecting pace, she played such delightful tennis in the first and beginning of the third. Aljona' ground game just reached another level after 0-3 in the third though, she hasn't played at that level since RG IMO. Great signs going into tomorrow and then Wuhan

What a pile of crap. Kournikova and Sharapova are Eastern European and the two biggest poster girls that tennis has ever seen. Kournikova didn't even need to win matches, but she was on showcourts all the time.

Well, originally they're both from Russia, but most of their career reside in USA and fully utilized American marketing machine.
