I watched about half of the match. I thought both of them played pretty well but, in the 2nd set at least, neither had things completely their own way. Both struggled to hold serve but that had a lot to do with how well both of them were returning. There were not a lot of easy points. Still there were more winners than errors from both players and it was a good quality match as one would expect at the quarterfinal stage of a tournament. Yanina should be very pleased with how she is playing.
Nina should be back in the top 100 with this result - even if she loses against Aleks. She's #98 in the Live Rankings and only Buzarnescu, Hogenkamp or Kumkhum can pass her.
I can see Buzarnescu overtaking her but the other two probably not, so I'd say Yanina's place in the top 100 is pretty secure. :yeah:
That said, I'm more focused on Aleks securing her place in the top 50. She will have to win this tournament to do it this week and the way Zhang is playing, she will be tough in the final whether she faces Aleks or Yanina. But if I have to wait a couple of weeks longer for Aleks to reach the top 50 then so be it.
