Aleksandra Krunic's inexorable rise up the rankings continues. :bounce:

Another very impressive win for Aleks. She looked very focused from the beginning and got off to big leads in both sets against a pretty dangerous opponent. On both serve and return both girls played very aggressively and looked to try to get on top of the point from the very start. And while Mona did make some nice returns and some good 1st serves Aleks bettered her in both departments.

I love it when Aleks outserves a renowned big server who is 6+ inches taller than her. Today Aleks served 5 aces (3 in a row at one point :bounce: ) compared to Mona's 3. Aleks hit not one double fault whereas Mona hit 7. Those stats sum up the difference between the players today. Of course when a point extended more than 2 or 3 shots, Aleks was in charge with her greater speed, anticipation and net skills so Mona was forced to go for broke early in the points and it just didn't work for her. This isn't the 1st time Aleks has outaced a much taller opponent and it most definitely won't be the last either. Aleks finished this match in under an hour.

Two big milestones were reached by Aleks with this win. Next week Aleks will be at a new career high most likely in the top 60 and her movement towards the top 50 continues to gather pace. She also now has a career best 929 ranking points. Here's hoping that number will very soon be in 4 digits. :D

Krunic often gets dismantled in the next round after this 'encouraging' wins.

The height difference was so apparent when they shook hands at the net. It was little and large out there

Anyway, Krunic totally outmanoeuvred Barthel, taking control of points even when Barthel had the better court position. Masterful.

It's a little frustrating to see her let her opponents back in the match (as in the first set), but otherwise a near-perfect performance.

Peterson next? What's her game like?
