I think he believes at the height and ballstriking ability of Kvitova and Pliskova, they can neglect long point construction/defense/rallying and therefore to a certain extent fitness. I don´t think Pliskova is wired that way at all. If she neglected fitness, movement and point construction, she´d be her sister. In a mean way, she knows how far that got Kristyna. Top 50 is pretty nice, Grand Slam finals are better.

I am not a fan of the direction a lot of Maria threads have taken over the last 12 months.
The undertone is very disappointing, aggressive and the comments are sometimes rude to a player just trying to earn a living, playing her hardest and having a good amount of success given her god given, natural talents.
You made the list: NEW President Bouchard, Cibulkova, Mladenovic, Wozniacki, Kerber, Cornet, Watson, Broady.
Please note this is a signature about Tatjana Maria

Thoughts? Just for me a step in a bad direction.
I agree. Nothing good comes from that. Firing a real coach, not some part-time Lendle-Agassi-like name, that's insane and incomprehensible. I see her decline starting now. A stupid, very stupid decision. The Asian swing is gonna be chaotic and screwed, her bad.

She hasn't been. It seemed more like her personal life affected her career this summer, it happens to everyone on tour time after time.

Muguruza movement is actually great for her height. Better than Venus

It´s when players hit the balls to their feet and that problem is the same for Sharapova or Kvitova. You have long legs and long arms. When somebody hits the ball fast at your feet, you need to get out of the way further to get a good angle to hit the ball, while a Putintseva takes one step to the side and she´s already struggling to reach the ball. Pliskova´s movement/rallying got a lot worse under Kotzya and she also seemed to have an arm injury.

So if I had to guess she was unhappy that he wanted her to be an aggressive ballbasher with focus on ending points quickly using her serve and she wanted to maintain her movement and fitness improvements to be a more well-rounded player with options. To me Pliskova can strike the ball hard and early, but only when she is confident and in a rhythm. So she needs the ability to rally herself into that confident state. If she does not have confidence in her own fitness and movement levels, all of a sudden ballbashing is her only play and when it does not work, she has no fallback plan. That onbviously hurts your confidence, cause you can only play one way and if does not work, you are screwed. At the end she looked completely out of confidence and miserable at the US Open.

I actually expect Kvitova to have a big 2018 under Vanek, if her hand is healed to a proper level.
I wouldn't have thought that about her movement, but you're right. Practicing/Playing with only first strike in mind doesn't lend itself to having the right mindset or prep for rallying and Plan B.

She'll most likely stick with a CZE coach? Who do you think could get her back to where she was before Kotyza?

I want to be the girl with the most cake.

She was regressing.

Now if she'd just dump the fiance we might see her reach her potential.

Also, speaking of tall women who moved well, I seem to remember someone. Tall. Blonde. Russian. Had the most adorable bangs for awhile...

I think David did a great job to get Karo to world No 1 – she won Brisbane and Qatar.

Shvedbarilescu and danieln1 like this.

QUEEN OF QUALIFYING JELENA JANKOVIC
WTA AZOR AHAI GARBINE MUGURUZA
iOS 8.0 KAROLINA PLISKOVA
DON'T CALL IT A COMEBACK AZARENKA

That moment when you realize that Safina actually deserved that #1 spot...

That was actually the most amazing thing when I saw Garbine for the first time back in 2013/2014. I thought: How can a girl with that height move so well. AND she is still moving very well.

Ah, you are talking about the one that lost her bangs due to stress from Sharapova getting all the Asian marketing deals? Indeed, she moved very well.

Not many. But Pliskova needs it more than many because she is too reliant on her serve and it won't be "on" everytime.

Any word on who her new coach will be?

Just tell me it's not the boyfriend.
