GoldenSlam

Is Graf the only woman in history to ever score a Golden Slam?
From the current players who in your opinions will be able to repeat this?

Amelie - Marcos

Nope. There aren't really any allround players around. Players winning Roland Garros aren't able to win the other slams while players who win the other slams won't be able to win Roland Garros...

Not likely.

And because of the increasing parity it's becoming less and less likely every year. Heck, I could name 6 or 7 players who (when healthy) have a decent shot at winning the US Open/AO/Wimby/FO off the top of my head. Serena, Venus, Lindsay, Nastya, Justine, ElenaD, Maria, Jen, Momo, Kim...

serena would have had a chance when she won the serena-slam but not now, and justine might have had a chance had she not got ill or injured but by the time the next olympics roll around i dont see anyone being able to do it except for possibly sharapova, or someone like karatencheva or vaidisova. no one can do it with the current line up of players playing like they are atm. maybe in another 4 years a few of them will have fallen down the ranks and might not be playing as well and then there might be a chance and in my mind sharapova is the one who is in the best position atm to capitalize and do it in 4 years however she would have to win RG which would be tough and surprisngly hardcourts are tough for her also so us open may also be a problem (although i expect her to be winning big on hardcourts by then).

Go the aussies! stosur!!!
and good luck russians: dementieva, safina, kirilenko, sharapova, kuznetsova, bovina, zvonareva, dushevina.

also good luck to: azarenka, lucic, sprem, vakulenko, vaidisova, safarova, ivanovic, groenefeld, mirza, krajicek, kvitkova, larcher de brito, lisicki.

I think the most possible one is Maria Sharapova in the year of the next olympic games!

The World's best player...

Sometimes you have to be lucky that the olympics take place just in that one year when you´re totally dominating...and right now there ain´t any really dominating players anymore. Justine and Serena were the last two who could win ANY tournament they entered. Maria?! Still not sold on her credentials on non-grass surfaces and she seems pretty much unable to beat her fellow russians most of the time.

And there´s talk of the next-crop coming up already in the juniors, soooo...it´s gonna be very difficult.

Always bet on black!
