Fan poll #1 - fan and media reactions

Does the behavior of other fans or media ever affect how you feel about a player? Even though you may not have anything against the player personally, and you may try to not let it get to you, but there's a part of you that will start resenting or disliking a player because of annoying fans or media.

Personally, it won't change whether I like or dislike a player, but if I already dislike the player, I admit that annoying fans or media will often exacerbate that dislike.

Or, if I'm indifferent to a player, I'll sometimes want them to lose because I think, "if s/he wins, I'll have to put up with..."

If the obnoxious fans or media are for a player I like, I often because those people tend to make the rest of us look bad and cause a backlash against the player. That's why I often don't get why some fans will defend the irrational fans just because they like the same player.

I don't usually bother going on forums for individual athletes because I find the whole "group think" aspect annoying.

Before I get any spelling/grammar queens on my back, the first option should be "effect" instead of "affect".

By "them", I meant the fan and media reactions, not the players.

I also meant to include, "it won't change how I feel about the players, but will affect how I feel or respond to their fans".

When I click "edit", I don't see any option for changing the poll.

I think that even the people who can put up with the fans at least get annoyed by the media comments.

I also forgot to add, sometimes if a player gets criticized excessively, I'll sometimes start supporting them when I was indifferent or even disliked them before. Should have been an option as well.

I never let fans turn me against a player. If a player has a large enough fanbase, there are bound to be some bad apples. And some of the "bad fans" aren't really fans at all, but aliases created to foster ill will toward that player and her fans.

I have let true, loyal fans influence me in a positive way toward a player I might have been indifferent about otherwise. Especially if it's a player that doesn't get much general support.

I never let the media influence me. Anyone worth watching, I'll be aware of long before they are. And their coverage of players are often influenced by their own biases.

The player didn't ask for media and fan reactions. So disliking a player purely because of what other people say about that player is ridiculous in my opionon...

nah i just tend to like who i like ive heard bad things about certain players, Laura Granville in particular but these things you hear 99% of the time turn out to be a load of shit, and i think that until you meet/speak to a person yourself you cant really form a true description of them or there real personality I do think alot of people do judge a player through Media/Fans, but thankfully i dont
