Exclamation Alicia Molik def. (2)Amelie Mauresmo 7-5, 3-6, 6-3

I didn't see this coming.

All of you who were complaining about Venus and her special seeds, at least when she had it in tournametns like this, she could get past the second round.

Not surprising. Mauresmo finally has a chance in her career to be no. 1. Sorry to her fans, but she was obviously going to get tight w/ such a chance. Lindsay is gonna be the new no. 2, baby .

No, but if Venus had not run out of her special seedings, she would have been seeded number two here.

Indeed, a huge upset by Alicia! I'd expected Amelie to go far in this tournament. Well, tennis is unpredictable, and some players more so than others.

She is allowed an occasional bad result now and then considering she went from wimbledon to playing fed cup on clay and then had a break, I am not surprised she lost.

Congratulations Alica. But I really never expected this. I guess she choked again. Just pure speculation though. I haven't seen the match.....

Tremendous win for Alicia!

Her serve was virtually unbreakable all match. The few breaks of serve decided the match. An overdue breakthrough.
