Maria has not been looking very impressive so far against a player ranked #220...

not judging by the score, not judging by game/break point conversion....

give her a break. 1) you can't judge anything real from the score 2) osterloh is ranked 220 but is much better than that and beat an inform (vento-kabichi - semis in stanford) top 30 player in the first round rather easily.

i don't like the girl but why are people always on her back?

actually I'm not. she is my favourite player. all I wanted to know is how she is playing. and as I made it clear, I'm not watching.

but thanks for supporting her.

Maria was breezing through most games on her serve and broke Osterloh 3 times.

Yeah and Masha's serve was also broken to 15 That is not okay against Lilia Osterloh.

I guess, I have expected a more convincing score considering that even in-form Osterloh doesn't really have a lot of weapons to trouble Maria.

chill out geez...

Anyway, good match for Masha considering it was her first in two and a half weeks and she was playing a red-hot Osterloh who seems to have broken out of her two year slump.

Osterloh is a hard court specialist who has a good history and has gone deep into the slams. She is on form, and was always going to be a tricky opponent.

6-3 6-3 is a very good win by Maria as her first match on these courts and her first match on hardcourts this season.

Sabine Lisicki, Maria Sharapova, Elena Dementieva,

Victoria Azarenka, Dinara Safina, Maria Kirilenko

Nadia Petrova, Samantha Stosur, Ana Ivanovic.

u guys look too far into it. thats why they play the matches. every day is a new day who cares how elena d beat her. someone may be feeling it more and be on their game better one day. if u feel it that day then ur gonna be better. she won convincingly, something serena didn't do.

obviously you aren't gonna dominate opponents when you have trouble holding serve.
