There's an article on the website for Eastbourne that, whilst generally not hostile to Genie (as you would expect), nevertheless says that she "...has now registered rare back-to-back wins on the tour" and "...is now considerably a has-been". Surprisingly honest for what you would expect to be a puff piece. Losing to Strycova isn't that bad but Genie really does need to do something soon or she will be back in ITFs and really will be a has-been.
Bouchard will need to start playing qualifying soon. She is defending R3 at Wimbeldon so will take a tumble if she can't defend those points. No sympathy for her at all.
Bouchard is #61 right now. She already would have to play qualifyings for stacked WTA Premier events with smaller draw. Her ranking plummeted from #46 to #61 so no actual improvement or sign that "she's back" this year.
I started out as a fan of Genie's too but now Not at all. After her fed cup controversy with her unsportsman like conduct not shaking hands, I was done. She walked around like she was queen of the court, now she is a has been. She needs to eat some humble pie.
Genie's season completely derailed, again. The good thing is, she's defending very few points after Wimbledon. She really needs a soft draw to win a match or two and get her confidence back.
