Nastja looks better than I would have thought on grass.
Ana's on-court demeanor is wretched. Her shoulders are forever slumped and she looks so defeated out there. A more positive attitude would do her wonders.
Ana Konjuh falls into a similar category as Lisicki, Ivanovic and Keys - enormous weapons when she connects, but doesn't seem to have a tactical brain to back them up
Ana Kunjuh has such a huge game, it takes a lot of skills to bring her down. Nastja doesn't hit quite as hard as Konjuh but she can hit some pretty flashy winners of her own. But unless you are Serena Williams you don't want to engage in a slugfest with Konjuh. To beat her a player has to mix in a lot of offpace shots along with angles, some hard hitting and of course one has to cover the court like a rabbit. Just trying to outslug her won't work (as Victoria found out very clearly) and finesse on it's own won't work either. To beat Ana a player needs to do a bit of everything and do it all well. Nastja played a very smart match, and she showed a lot of mental toughness and fighting spirit at some key moments when the match looked to be running away from her.
Yeah, I'm pleased. Both these girls have the ability to win big matches, but personally I much prefer the way Nastja does it to the way Ana does it.
Ana is such a frustrating player to root for. Plays beautifully to put herself in a good position, then immediately goes into BBB mode to throw it away.
This loss and her overall game just reinforces her as the grass Ostapenko though lol. Onto Wimby!
