Elina

Watson can be tricky on grass, so good that she got it done.

In the first set, Elina was "like a hog on ice" But in the end, she played really nice. I really like how she served! Nicely done

Good start for Svitolina.

Encouraging fightback from Heather (including in the final game when Svitolina served for the match) but there was only going to be one outcome.

Fingers crossed Strycova or Giorgi can save tennis in this section.

I suppose this is quite a good loss for Hev considering some of the others she's faced. She's a long way from being that player who gave Serena a scare at Wimbledon though..

Svitty probably thought it wasn't grass since it was so hot in Birmingham today. Good win on her least favourite surface

The fact that there was actually a crowd watching the match would have made that unlikely

Indeed. I can't work out Heather. She seems to be utterly disinterested for most of the tour and shows no ability to adapt her game during matches.

Ever since she won the mixed doubles at Wimbledon she's just bombed down in singles. There were signs of a lack of motivation before then but it was really dramatic afterwards. I think she needs to go back to her old grinding ways.. If she did that but kept up the strong serve and add in some variety, such as the slices, dropshots and net approaches she employs, she could be a really good player.
