Only saw the last set, Davis was too inconsistent today. Witthöft was much steadier and stayed concentrated after Davis saved two MPs with incredible winners :D

Since when Carina is weaponless?

If anything Davis being seeded #25 is what boggles my mind, not that loss vs Witthöft. That's some curious discovery.

Carina stayed so solid and played more consistent throughout despite a heavy start by Davis.

I prayed for this result :hearts:

Yes Carina :woohoo:

Just a strong performance from Carina. In no way impressed by the missing chance of Nürnberg. She's by far not weaponless as she's able to force the errors when she can't hit the winner.

Very well done, Krejcikova is banned to her history.

When did Davis become a 25th seed at a slam? I know she won Auckland and had some good results last fall, but I don't remember much outside of that.. apart from a good run in Dubai. I would go and check on WTA website under scores history but I have given up on that website

More weaponless player lost, so no surprise here.

I love Carina!! Underestimated player, more talented than her results have shone.
She has lost so many close matches, this makes me incredibly happy.
Lauren, sorry! Tough day.

Lauren is really excelling at the Majors this year! :hearts:

I mean I guess losing to Witthoeft is slightly better than losing to Crawford, but these are matches she really should be winning.

LOL Why is everyone picking on Lauren? She is incredibly consistent and had a great year, no reason to think she will drop off either. Just lost to a better player on the day. And all things equal, Carina SHOULD win this match on clay.
