Re: Race to Singapore: Who's gonna make it?

All of the top 8 might get there. I see Pavs & Vesnina close but they need consistency

The most wasted of all days is one without laughter....
Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there
Enjoy This Moment!!
HEALTH and HAPPINESS to EVERYONE

Having Svitolina as the number 1 player in the race is just wrong.

Re: Race to Singapore: Who's gonna make it?

I would love to see the new 8 there though top 3 + Mladenovic look likely. Also Halep if she keeps cashing out her cakewalk draws. Caro and Venus will fade away.

But I think things will start falling into places when Paris ends.

Singapore this year could be even messier than previously.

Yeah it is but it is fun to discuss

From my point of view Svitolina, Pliskova and Halep are safe bets. The first ones are on their way up and will show some surprising losses but will keep their momentum to get in. Halep will show some more consistency so it is hard to see her not getting in. All others are not secured I would say. Would say that Mug will probably have one to three peak tournaments to catch up. Mladenovic has to prove herself the next couple of weeks. I am still not convinced with the Woz resurrection. Venus would be a great story, but age is a factor (I know it is being said a couple of years already and she proved us wrong) But still too vulnerable to see her already in. The threshold is still pretty low with 2800 points so even someone like Sharapova ot Azarenka could catch up, even though it is pretty unlikely. You can dream and see some youngster like Vondrousova catching a spot but hey, I know way too far fetched...

Anyway would be appreciated if this thread will be updated on a regular basis

Doubtful Wozniacki fades away since she uses to raise her level for the US series.

I see no reason to expect Venus to fade away either - she started strong and will probably end strong as well because she's having a good year and her slam history may be not finished...

...I wouldn't count out Kerber and Radwanska.

Both earn their points usually in the second half of the year.

3. Johanna Konta (2245)
4. Caroline Wozniacki (2240)

13. Angie Kerber (1329)
31. Agnieszka Radwanska (672)
82. Maria Sharapova (310)
NR. Victoria Azarenka
NR. Petra Kvitova

I'd say the current Top 5 are locks but the last three spots are still very much in contention and will be for the remainder of the season.
How you get that when 6 and 7 are less than 70 points away from number 5 and almost 600 points away from number 9?

if anything I don't know about Kiki and Kuzzy but Venus' chances of gaining more points will probably increase after the French. Wimbledon and later have been her best part of the season since her first Slam and the last couple of years have again come back to that.

Re: Race to Singapore: Who's gonna make it?

Kerber looks a mess right now. I agree, unless Venus gets injured she'll probably easily make it.

Maria isnt making it. Vika will be difficult if she doesnt do well at Wimbledon.

yeah, I was looking at that. 3-7 are about 123 points difference. and then Kuzzy is the next player at 8 and I dont see any reason she wouldnt have a strong hard court season.

Yes, it is. I was more responding to the OP " there are about 7 players that have really separated themselves " which I think is too early to say but we will see after French Open.
