I think Serena is genuinely happy for Maria. Smiling during her interview and shared Maria's jokes.

Now both women win my respect!

Justine Henin

Thank you.

I have to say Sharapova played a good match and Serena is still not at her presurgery level. She was the better player today. Serena's fh was just really off. Maria upped the tempo and Serena couldn't answer the challenge. Nice interview of Maria after and Serena looks like she's fighting the tears.

Great final. Sharapova shows that she belongs.

Why do you think Serena's forehand was off? Just a bad day - or the severe pace and depth of shot by Masha?

Congrats Masha!

she just became MISS UNIVERSE!

Sorry, but Serena sounded so fake. She was crying because
she lost. It wasn't even good acting.

Well done, Masha! And she did it with a cold, as she just said.

Kudos to Serena for trying hard.

BTW, folks, power tennis was at play today big time, and power tennis and accuracy wan. Masha's lobs were magnificent, I must add.

OMG, I'm in a state of shock right now; but it's a good kind of shock.

I wanted Maria to win, but I still expected Serena to pull through. When it came to match point for Maria, I was in disbelief, Maria's actually going to win!

Congratulations Maria on a terrific performance! I just hope the "Anna" comparisons will finally be put to rest.
