Who will win this Aus. Open QF rematch?

Pliskova has breezed thus far.

Mirjana had a tough second round, but two straight set wins since including the blitzing of Radwanska.

Not much turnaround time for Mirjana as this one will take place around 1 pm est Tuesday.

Hopefully this will be as good as their Melbourne clash. :armed:

I love Kaja of course, but how can you not root for Miki? As a fellow victim of abuse, my heart goes out to her and I commend her for being a strong survivor. :worship: I also love Miki's Big Babe Tennis. :hearts:

Yeah and after so many years struggling on tour barely making top 100 most of the time. Most people thought she was done some years ago, losing at qualies in ITF. This peak at her age is really a great and inspiring story, even if you are not a fan

I remember Graf telling her she was much better player than her at her age when she beat her in a Strasbourg final 20 years ago (Miki was 15 I think) :) Then it came Wimby SF but after that Lucic has been an underachiever all her career, I'd never thought she would finally get some success after almost 20 years struggling :bigcry:

So proud of Mirjana, for a lifetime. She has completely redeemed and defeated the past.

Everything she does from now on is gravy, because she has now achieved more as an "old lady" than she did as a teen phenom.

Unreal that she will get ANOTHER CHR.

Pliskova will want revenge for Oz. And should win it ... but Mirjana enjoys fighting with Pliskova, and the result is not guaranteed for either of them.

It continues to be a great story. Mirjana is a real star, again. Deservedly so.

Let all people aged 35-40 destroy their doubts and chase their dreams!

They have had some werid meetings.

In 2015 at Toronto, Pliskova choked badly after having a double break lead in the third set.

At the same time, at 2015 Wuhan, Lucic served for the match and choked. Also had mps in the 3rd set tiebreaker.

Then, at this year's Aus. Open, Mirjana seemed to be choking after being up a break in the 3rd set. The injury timeout (whether you agree it was warranted or not) seemed to allow her to re-focus and she broke back and served it out.

Since Pliskova reached her prime, all their matches have been razor close.

It really depends on how well each serves. Mirjana's return of serve is good enough to hurt Pliskova consistently, if Karo does not have a high first serve percentage. At the same time, Mirjana's serve, when on, is good enough to greatly trouble Karo. All in all, Karo has the better serve, and Mirjana has the better return. Off the ground, Lucic can match and, at times, exceed Karo's pace. I think Lucic moves a little bit better, but Karo is a good mover for someone so tall (over 6').

I think it will be another close match - as most of their matches have been. I'll vote Mirjana because I am biased. 0:)

Let's not forget that MLB also beat Radwanska in that same tournament that she beat Pliskova (in the same round!). I am hoping that she repeats the same feat but Pliskova is playing very well and I wouldn't put any money on this.
Very much hoping for Miki win, though! :cheer:
