If Anett brings the quality of Makarova match then she will surely have chances. But i am afraid she is still too erratic to string together numerous good wins. Simmons in 2.
Anett is the type of player which normally Simona would have no problems to deal with, but with Simona this days any player is an big challenge for her. Hoping Simona will prevail. She needs matches.
Actually lower ranked players are even more dangerous in these times. Simona seems to get up for the bigger fights (but she hasn't had one since WTF). With her form still in doubt, I don't know how she would do against someone like Aga, Kerber, Pliskova, Dominica, but I know she would try. But I'm afraid she could come out in this bad form, but also less motivated to fight against these lower ranked players.
So I hope her training is starting to pay off and her form is coming back enough so she can get to those fights.
Anett Kontaveit (age:22, 1.74m, 65kg, No.112, Race:88, Players | WTA Tennis English) won the 60,000 USD Andrezieux-Boutheon, 5 matches in a row, and could extend her winning streak in Budapest to 7 won matches (then defeated by Julia Goerges). This means that right now she's in her better form, and she can play rather consistently her tennis.
In Indian Wells she could beat Misaki Doi (No.47), and was defeated by Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova (No.21).
In Miami she could defeat Ekaterina Makarova (No.35, Race:41).
These results show that she would have a chance against "Sleepmona" (barely a Top 60 player), while against the "normal Halep 2.0" (Top 5 player) is not so much. Of course, we don't know which Halep is coming to the court.
Some people in GM have such a strong mental break down when seeing Simona Halep, they cannot even remember her name. So, this is actually a sign of the reduced IQ level of the speaker.
Simmons fangirls getting so brave :spit: Coming for Guest is just amusing, they should focus on girls at their fave's talent level, like Konta and Brengle.
I have seen only haters bringing in Bucharest in discussions. And anyways, what's so shameful in winning a tournament of any kind? I guess I wasn't informed that players are suppose to loose early until they win their first slam
Haters can't find a reason to hate her, but just can't help themselves.
Scheduling is unfair because Stosur already played and went to eat and went to her hotel and this match has not started and the winner plays Stosur tomorrow
