I don't think it will be a real date anyway.

Plus, how serious are any of the participants going to take it?

About what they can talk with each other though? Genie strikes me as an airhead.

She's good looking though ... but her masculine voice could be disturbing.

So, the dude follows the Cavs and Genie eh? Hmmm, no nothing similar there at all.

nope

Crappy bet. There was no way for her to win anything if she turned out to be right. But very cool that she is staying true to her word. She is so incredible with her fans. Not many players bother to do so much (randomly hanging out with them in the middle of the tournament and so on).

From now on I'm gonna stalk Diatchenko on any sort of unlikely bet in hope to achieve the same result

Yeah, it's like if someone asked her what she would do if Michael Jackson was found alive on the moon she would probably have agreed to a lot more than just a date knowing it wouldn't have happened. She obviously didn't expect this to happen either and I guess she can be a bit relieved that she didn't agree to anything more than a date. :oh:

Genie out there having some harmless fun and people are calling her attention seeking  What a sad life for those people, it's like they never have fun before. Let's remind everyone that Genie's only 22/23, that's what we do at this age.

Bouchard has gotten a lot of flak here for numerous things that aren't worth listing right now. And yes, in most cases that flak was probably warranted.

But I certainly don't see this event as being attention seeking at all. It's actually quite sweet of her to be interacting with her fans and while, with that wonderful thing we call hindsight one could say she was rather foolish agreeing to this bet, at the time she made it there honestly didn't appear to be much risk involved.

I'd also say it is admirable, and genuinely nice even, of her to commit to this date following a careless moment of what turned out to be overconfidence.

What I will be curious about is how she sets the date up. Undoubtedly she will be responsible for paying for the travel to visit her date or she will have to pay to have him travel to see her. Either way, she can afford it and it won't unduly dent her bank balance. But, particularly if she ends up travelling to see him, that will be a lot of time lost and for a professional tennis player who's time is valuable that is a sacrifice. For that reason, my guess is she will probably pay to have him visit her somewhere while she is on tour. Most likely, they will go for a nice meal together and he will then get to watch a match as one of her guests. Although I can't say I'm a fan of Genie's, I would have to say, that kid really did get very lucky here.

It is a good story.

Well her BF is pretty much a career minor league hockey player now, Genie needs to start looking at other options. If he's still around this time next year, he will probably be carrying Genie's racket bag and following her around the WTA circuit like Cibulkova's fiance did and still does after marriage!

If this twitter bet winner guy has a real job and is good with a selfie stick, it could be goodbye minor league hockey player!

What does she offer the WTA that makes you think she will get people talking? Her tennis results are mediocre at best. She was heavily promoted by Stacey, and you see how that turned out. I think Halep or Pliskova are both more talented and I can't imagine why they should not be promoted as much or more as Bouchard.
