That was a beatdown and a half
Muguruza had NO chance out there today. She even resorted to moonballing.
I never knew CoCo was capable of this. She had meltdowns during the Bouchard match but today she was like a total boss out there on court. It's been a long time coming for Constanca!
As for Garbine, you were terrible
Tried to execute her defensive gameplay and whilst it worked for a short time, you are just not meant to be a pusher.
Coco was right though, Garbine played like a bad novel.
Unreal level from Colleen. Garbine was swatted away like a niggling fly, and it was actually hilarious to see her desperately resorting to moonballs at a certain point - only to receive washing machines and bathtubs in return.
Wow, what a beat down. I didn't see this coming. I really think she took advantage of the faster courts. Mugs tried her best but was just outpowered the whole match and CoCo couldn't miss. However, this is where it ends, Vee is coming for that wig. Anyway, nice display tonight CoCo.
Genie's the only player who has taken a set off Colleen this whole tournament. Just tragic.
That interview? So cringeworthy, even the interviewer was out of words.
Arrogance of a slam champion with nothing to show for it. I'll give it to Colleen, she played lights out & treeing, but her attitude is so off-putting.
Colleen played amazing but I still can't stand her when she acts like this. She's done it her whole career - when playing well she's so arrogant and cocky but when she's not, she's throwing rackets and tantrums.
Mugu's first serve % is abysmal; she could not direct the hard ball with any angles but hit it to the middle of the court right in Coco's strike zone. Bouchard actually has better defense than she does, which is kind of sad
CoCo played so well, amazingly not missing anything. I think she is the only player who is not nervous at all when leading, no chokes, playing better and better when leading, no signs of nerves, with so much confidence. So many top players cant have the mentality like her.
Mug, the fact that she gave up the power for more control of her shots is catching her against top players, especially big hitters. She need to hit bigger with more pace if she needs to have chances in her rallies. Obviously she was outhit today,, but she should have done better. The point to take is the fact that she can calmly face so many bps in the first set is good, but she gave it up since 4-4. Much to learn from this match.
