Sydney R2: Duan def. Vandeweghe 6-3 6-2

Coco refusing to shake the umpire's hand, as if she was the cause of her lack of effort.

Congrats go out to Duan. She played very well today

CoCo I can't remember the last time she played so poorly. Her first 5 singles matches of 2017 were very promising, but this match was a real let down. Hopefully she'll get right back on track at the AO.

She played doubles earlier in the day with Martina Hingis. Maybe that tired her out? She should probably give up her singles career if she's going to be a serious doubles partner of Martina.

Did they? R2 dubs match yet to be played

Lol why would she give up her career, she can win titles on grass especially.

Doubles matches never played before their singles matches on the day. That's the rule

Oh you're right. I was looking at the times wrong on scoreboard. It did show those matches on the same day, but the doubles was listed at 1:10 and singles was 23:15 so she did have almost a full day to recuperate.

BFCD absolutely slayed Constança today. She is coming for Aggie's wig for real this time!

Compared to singles, I agree. But I'd have to think a player resting would be alot more fresh than another player out on the court. Unless the player resting would have been practicing?

Do the doubles players play doubles because if they didn't they'd otherwise be at practice? I'd always wondered if it's even worth it to play doubles for lot of these girls. Is the prize money worth it?
