Re: Nadia Petrova retires

The tragic death of her mother basically ended her career

Very very very very very sad I will miss Nadia Petrova a lot

She was so talented and a lovely woman. I wish Nadia only the best for her future !

I hope she stays involved in tennis. She has so much experience/talent to share

Thank you for the memories, Nadia ! You were my favourite player

Re: Nadia Petrova retires

Agreed I always liked Nadia, her game when on would cause trouble to all players, she was very technical and talented, had pretty much all the shots in the game, too bad her brain would malfunction at times.

She should have won RG 2006

Hope she has a good life after tennis.

The orderly queue for her coaching services - form a line here.

One of my top tier faves. Damn time flies.
I wish her the best.

I'll probably go through some highlights tomorrow.

Re: Nadia Petrova retires

I'll always remember one of her most devastating performances. Has anyone ever squashed Clijsters like this, besides maybe peak Henin on clay?

Re: Nadia Petrova retires

I will always love and cherish Nadia for her heart and her game. And her bravery. And her Clijsters match.

But that 2011 Tokyo that was Aga's... I will never forgive her for this random peak out of nowhere to stop Aga's title defence.

Good luck in the future, Nadia.

Re: Nadia Petrova retires

Her best Grand Slam performances

Aus Open
QF 2006
QF 2010

French Open
SF 2003
SF 2005
QF 2010

Wimbledon
QF 2005
QF 2008

US Open
QF 2004
QF 2005

Unfortunately she made no Grand Slam final,
but Nadia can be proud of her Grand Slam career

Nadia has lots of R3/R4 performances too

Serena: "We have great personalities like Jelena (Jankovic) on the tour."
Jelena: "If I had to pick someone after me, I'd pick Serena."

Good Luck

Re: Nadia Petrova retires

Nadia Petrova had a big game. Good serve, one of the best volleyers, big forehand
In 2006 she won Doha, Amelia Island, Charleston and Berlin (beating Zvonareva, Safina, Li Na, Henin). Won 22 of 23 matches, up to #3 with little to defend, then was injured. That fall she made 3 straight finals, winning Stuttgart. I'm sure would have been #1 and huge 2006 FO contender if she stayed healthy
That AO win over Clijsters was also one of her best matches, but she had at lot of matches where she played at that level

The most wasted of all days is one without laughter....
Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there
Enjoy This Moment!!
HEALTH and HAPPINESS to EVERYONE
