Doesn't she say that every year?
Just don't keep losing sets to Bertens like in IPTL

Back in 2013, I thought she was slower by her standards, but now she's slow by anyone's standards. And what was Jankovic without speed and court coverage? Nothing.

She hasn't even made a Slam QF since RG 2013, and before that RG 2010. She couldn't even manage her nerves to serve out an Indian Wells final to a shaky, bad-formed Halep. Her ship has sailed.

This is what it feels like when you can't defend your fav anymore

At least it took 10 years for this moment to come.

I feel the same way for all fans of Stosur and Ivanovic as well who are sticking by them in their post-primes. Especially Ivanovic...somehow she still in the top 100! I never thought I'd see both Serbian former no. 1s struggling this much late in their careers though approaching age 30, nothing is ever that certain.

Li Na | Carla | Venus | Kerber | Dasha

Evonne Goolagong-Cawley - Australian Legend: 14 GS - 7 singles

Dare to dream!

Her game style, like Clijsters, is far too physically taxing to sustain for more than 5 years at the top. She wore herself out so much from 2006-2008 (didn't she play like 18+ tournaments a year?) and her game completely relies on her speed and stamina. Even if she committed 200% her game's deteriorated too much to be in the top 20. Kim Clijsters took her break and had a great run 2009-2011, but her physical game wore her body out too much just like JJ.

I'm predicting the same thing to happen to Halep. Possibly Kerber as well after the next year or two. A defense-reliant game is just not sustainable.

I hope she keeps working on her English accent (it's still kind of clunky) so she can eventually go into big-time broadcasting. She is very funny, and smart.

ESPN or TTC could use a personality like her.

Re: Empress plans to shine brighter next season

Her forehand doesn't not give much effect and use really. It will be hard for her if she commit so many errors and unable to bother opponents as well.

Re: Empress plans to shine brighter next season

Getting back into the top 10 is totally unrealistic... but she's more than capable of peaking for a few tournaments. Back in her top 10 days she was making the QF minimum of 90% of the tournaments she played. I can't even remember the last time she did anything good back to back (not including China slams )

best of luck, Empress

Re: Empress plans to shine brighter next season

why not if she's 100% healthy , and motivated? She can "improve her game back". I mean, Kuzzie did make it back to the top 10... who knows?

Conchita MARTINEZ-Mary PIERCE-Lindsay DAVENPORT-Martina HINGIS-Serena WILLIAMS- and new legend Monica PUIG
Kata Srebotnik - Anabel Medina-Garrigues - Arantxa Parra-Santonja
Garbie Muguruza- Caroline Garcia- Polona Hercog- Kimiko DK - Eleni Daniilidou ...
