Maybe Tig from Madrid or Seoul shows up . Or Crawford from the beginning of 2016.
You would wanna wish a WC, a qualifier or Voskoboeva. Maybe even Knapp, as we don't know where she's at with the recovery and she didn't sign up with her SR for week 1 or week 2 main draws.
On what would you base that ? Who would be the 3 ?
There's barely 1 withdrawal in the last Grand Slams, if that. The cut-offs are higher and higher, as prize money goes. People go even injured for the check. AO 2016 was an exception, but most of the WDs were from the SRs or severely injured.
So- I know the Qualy list is completely different but most of the top 200 has entered.
Just not Rybarikova.
She still may enter QD? Not sure of her injury status.
Hopefully they will enter the QD but no Lim or Hesse Maybe they just thought there was no point for the MD bc so far out...hope so, love to see them both in Australia.
Yes. Though, if TopSpinDoctor's presumption (from the other thread - "
The rulebook says, "once a player designates which ranking she is using to enter a Tournament, she may not change her designation after the entry deadline."
However, this rule is however listed under "WTA tournaments")." is incorrect regarding that rule (too tired to research now), it would have been stupid not to try with her Special Ranking to make the MD.
Her SR is 108 and doesn't guarantee an MD spot in any of the Grand Slams. It would have been quite stupid even if that rule is correct.
No problem. So my personal conclusion regarding Rybarikova (given what I wrote and what we see) is that she didn't recover very well and she'll not come back on the tour in January at least.
