The former World nr.4 says she is officially retired and based in Australia.
She is at the moment working on her anticipated autobiography which will be released all around the world next year.

Apart from that she is a commentator and ambassador for exhibition tournaments in Asia and Australia.

For the new generation of TF-posters:
Jelena was the first young player who started the tennis revolution in Serbia in the early 2000's, followed by players such as Djokovic, Jankovic and Ivanovic.

:crying:

Aww, feel like she could have done more, but still had a great career.
Such a talented ball striker.

So sad to hear she's OFFICIALLY retired now...

A huge part of my childhood is officially unfulfilled.

I hope you can find true happiness, sweet Jelena.

Still remember that amazing AO 2009 run. She had chances to take out Safina and make the semis against Serena. 2009-11 were tragic years because every time she'd show signs of getting back from top 50 to top 30 or higher, she'd get injured. Tragic career, really.

I can still remember her win over Hingis R1 at Wimbledon.

Can't believe it's 17 years ago :sobbing:
I barely can believe her wildcard AO run was almost 8 years ago.

Time seems to move even faster when you measure your life in tennis years.

One of the first WTA players I was really into. She's had an interesting career and life. The book could be good.
If she pulls no punches and tells a true, reflective story about the dark days, it could be a good sports memoir.

If she reveals the full extent of the horror that comes with being the offspring of a "Tennis Parent," she could create a meaningful work.

If it's just going to be a rehash of her career with a few tedious anecdotes, then it won't be much more valuable than her Wikipedia page, I'd say.

Whatever the case, she was a gifted player and I hope life is good for her these days.

She had fantastic drop shots. Maybe one of the best in that department. But she played something like 1299 tournaments a year. lol lol .. That was insane.

I want her to dish dirt on:

- lesbianism in WTA
- her parents warnings about lesbianism in WTA
- adjusting to Australian life as a young immigrant
- blow by blow full account of the week she won Hopman Cup
- why she got her mole removed
- on getting fat and issues with diet/food, yoyo weight gain
- Wimbledon 1999
- Wimbledon 2000 and fearing facing Damir after losing the SF
- physical and emotional abuse by Damir
- role of Liljana in being witness to abuse above
- which parent do you blame
- effect on Savo growing as younger sibling witnessing it all
- being Davenport's pigeon
- more on TA begging Damir for you to play at Sydney Olympics
- why did you get your mole removed
- EVERYTHING about the days leading up to the explosive announcement you would represent YUG on the eve of 2001 Aus Open
- The Rita Kuta Kis comment
- what you did from 2004-2007
- what you did from 2011-2015
- life on ITF again where you started losing in qualifying in 10ks and grinded up to winning 100k+Hs
- TA and colleagues reactions to switching nationality back and winning the wildcard playoff wearing 3/4 length pants
- everything about AO 2009
- that crazy Asian male fan who followed you
- who initiated contact between you and Damir - why?
- dirt on Borna and Tino
- dirt on all the top WTA players
- when you predicted in 2007 that the Williams sisters were over and how wrong you were

That's a great list!

The mole :sobbing:

I would also like to know about her affection for tomatos and paprika.

I remember her most because of AO2009.
Brilliant run, that R16 match with Kleybanova was fantastic. I miss Alisa too
Dokic's celebrations always looked over the top but boy what a character to watch

Good luck Jelena will your new life...
