And when I say good, I mean a Kim Clijster's type serve.
What do you think? I definately think so.

It depends on if she can gain mental toughness and strength. Getting to #1 in the world isn't all about the weapons a player has, but it is more about their mental toughness.

I think she would be a threat for number one, for sure.

She could be top 5, but I don't think #1 because her groundstrokes (although extremely solid), are still too inconsistent.

Jelena Dokic.Vera Zvonareva.Tatiana Golovin.Mary Pierce.Monica Seles.Martina Hingis.Anna Kournikova

I think the only inhibitions Dementieva has is her serve, with that gone, she's as mentally tough as anyone

I don't think she plays that well. She seems lucky.

i think they're pretty inconsistent, they can fly however.
But in all honesty, I wouldn't call Venus, Serena, or Kim's groundstrokes all that consistent either

Tjaa....why not give her Serena´s serve as well?! Everybody´s things they can improve..

Always bet on black!

Yeah, they are, except when they are having a bad day.

But, I am just not that impressed with Demented. Sharapova and Myskina are leagues better than her overall.

Way, way to soon to tell. Big groundies and a decent serve are not enough to be #1 anymore. You also need a really solid net game to have an all court game to be #1..... that's how Serena and Justine got there, and that is the way of the future... Alot of these girls can bang away from the baseline... it is the ones moving to net to finish points, and using a varied strategy that are ascending the top of the rankings. IMO, Elena is not there yet, but she does have the potential to develop to this. Alas, the serve is going to inhibit her. Clay may help her neutralize this weakness, but on all the other surfaces (which 75% of the tourneys are one) it is a huge hole in her game.......

I think the problem is Elena is 1 type player. And when she is hitting the ball well its all good. aka when she play MoMO. But when she is not she has no plan B see 4th round and the ann match

If Dementieva reguarly performs like she did against Mauresmo and works on her serve she could still be a top player, maybe not number 1 but a regular top 5 player. But the performance against Maursemo was by far the best I've ever seen her play and I'm not too sure she can keep that kind of form going. It'll be interesting to see how she plays against Suarez, if she makes it to the final it could be the boost she needs to progress to the next level!

VERA ZVONAREVA DANIELA HANTUCHOVA

JELENA JANKOVIC TATIANA GOLOVIN

ANA IVANOVIC FLAVIA PENNETTA

NICOLE VAIDISOVA MARIA SHARAPOVA

I have to agree, really. She manages to junk ball winners when she needs to, but I do not know how.

She reminds me of Vivian Leigh, she could not act worth a damn but somehow faked her way through roles. She could never do an authentic Southern accent either.

this is true, i don't think i've seen her slice more than a few balls, and her volley's aren't that pretty
