elena had the toughest draw by far, and sure enough, she struggles until she reaches the real opponents, and takes htem out in straight sets... paola has not faced a decent clay court or even decent player all draw besdies masha who has always looked awkward on clay
look for her in the final, taking it to her fellow finalist with a pure venge and need to win
Elena Dementieva Current Ranking: #5
2006 Single Win/Loss Record: 42-14
2006 Doubles Win/Loss Record: 15-10 Winner(2): Tokyo Pan Pacific Open (Tier I), JPMorgan Chase Open (Tier II)
Finalist(1): Pacific Life Open (Tier I)
I really hope confidence pays off well for Elena this time! It's the same story in her past great runs - she does so well in a big tournament, then either loses or crashes unexpectantly (again, b/c of her nerves, serve and inconsistency). Take a look at Miami '04 when she was annihilated by Serena 1 and 1.
Now, I hope Elena's nerves won't play up on her the further she goes. This has been memorable for her and I hope she'll make it as memorable as possible!
