Semi #1: Suarez vs. Dementieva

Both should feel some kind of nerves here.

Dementieva is more solid off the ground, Suarez has the better serve/net play.

Should be interesting.

Dementieva up 2-0; Suarez leads 1-0 on clay
2000 Australian RD 128 Dementieva 6-0 3-6 8-6
2002 Acapulco SF Suarez 7-5 6-3
2002 San Diego RD 32 Dementieva 6-4 6-2

I think since both players have been known to let their nerves get to them, it will in the end come down to who can hold their nerve better. I think this could be a really close match, and a really, really, hope Paola can win it, but IMO it's anyone's match.

The match is on Elena's racket but where will she send it to remains to be seen.

(1/20/17) Just discovered this gem in my private messages from 2006:
Who is Rtael?
This guy Rtael ,brainless and ignorant, is one of the most obnoxious, arrogant and coward guys whos has been a pest in this forum for years now.Given the new anti-bully policy he'll probably be expelled soon. Observe how he tries to rally and gang others against you. Mean people like him shouldn't be allowed here. And all because he "doesn't like your attitude"!!

I hope it's a decent match and not just a battle of nerves.

I think Suarez in 3, she's the master of the clay, even more so then Elena.

Elena last beat suarez when they played and the Elena of 2002 was different to the Elena of 2004.

Elena has become more consistent and controlled in her baseline attack and has been to a GS semi final before. Paola could get overwhelmed by the court, the occasion and Elena's game.

Paola can win, every opponent has a chance, but I hope Elena takes it

Totally depends on Dementieva. If Saurez wins it will be because LENA lost. And vise-versa.
Lena in 3 or VERY tough 2.

Dementieva should win this, but Suarez will make her earn it. It really does come down to Dementieva in the end. She has weapons that Suarez can only dream of having. Paola's greatest asset is her speed and movement, but Dementieva can match her in that area quite easily.

I think Paola will win this, and maybe should win this. She is consistent, and great at the net. I don't think Elena will deal with her style well and she will make mistakes. I think the latter will make loads of UEs tomorrow.

I like both, so good luck to both!
