During one of Henin's match, MJoe said that Henin had defeated Serena in last years's RG final ...

Those were typical of Chris Fowlup. And in a true team effort, the rest of the ESPN crew pitched in with multiple screw-ups.

During the Santoro marathon, they said the previous record for longest match was the Wilander/McEnroe contest, when in fact it was the Nelson-Dunbar/Hepner match, which was 9 minutes longer. And to underscore the ineptitude of the tennis media, most of them made the same mistake.

Tim Ryan informed us that Davenport's 1st round opponent, Pichet, was "not on the regular ATP Tour". (Not surprising, since the ATP has a rule specifically forbidding women from competing on their tour.) He later clarified Pichet's status as a Challenger-level player, saying she was on the "ITP" circuit. Then he updated the score: "We're even at 1-all in the first game." He pointed out that Mauresmo had a break point... with Cervanova serving at 40-30. It seems Dick Enberg is infecting the other announcers.

Speaking of Enberg, he told us that Federer was the first Swiss player to be ranked #1. Talk about "out of sight, out of mind"! Someone else made a similar errant comment about Moya.

I just tune those ppl out.Particularly Fowler, and McEnroe,Fowler always seems bored to tears, and disinterested. So as soon as the coverage goes back to the studio I channel surf,or ff the tape.
