If Venus or Serena lose early ...

.. and that's a BIG 'if', I'm going to keep my fingers clenched and I'm I'm not going to write a blessed word beyond 'good match' to whoever beat them.

The stuff that's being written after Justine's loss is just too absurd. If not having her endurance back after recovering from a viral infection had no bearing on the match, if playing no red clay tune-ups had no bearing onther match, then sprained ankles and bad knees have no beraing either. If you can be 'over-rated after winning three slams, then you can be over-rated after wining four, or winning six.

Bookmark this thread, and shove it back in my face if I offer up one word of defense for Venus or Serena.

Venus, I love you, and if you knew me, you'd know you're my fave forever, but this is all I can do in response to this crap.

Now go out there, trounce you next fouir opponents, then pay back Serena for every time she borrowed your clothes without asking! And then, you and Amelie can have 'Revenge of the 1st Round 2002 RG Losers'!

Not blind. Not uninformed. We are party to atrocities. But the response of the world after 9/11 is worth noting. Even our most dire enemies offered aid. We should all be so lucky.

You actually sound surprised lol. How long are you on this messageboard?

Btw when one of the Williams sisters would lose early, you would see the same kind of crap on this board. Only the instigators/defenders would switch place probably

If only I was sure that my head on the door was a dream

We saw it 2 weeks ago when Serena lost to Capriati. Henin fans where unbearable, especially Chelsea.

When you line up across the net you are in affect saying you are ready to compete, you take the bitter w/the sweet. No I'm only 15, I was tired, my feelings were hurt, you win or lose on the court.

justine used unsporting conduct enroute to her French Open triumph last year(the sweet),and was crushed two weeks later at Wimbledon( the bitter).

Venus has taken her fair share of lumps in her career, and even this year, now it's justine and her fans turn. W/out the lows the highs aren't as sweet.

"And for the best of the teen-agers who followed her, and who occasionally referred to her as over the hill, Graf had a ready answer: against top-ranked Martina Hingis, Graf wound up 7-2. Graf's stirring 4-6, 7-5, 6-2 throttling of Hingis at the French Open final this June was perhaps the most emphatic parting shot the game has ever seen. "

But how can a lot of people on this board and commentators like Hingis pick Justine as a favorite to win the 2004 RG for the past few days and then come back when she lost and say she was not ready or she lost due to her layoff, or not match tough.

Clearly, in this case a lot of people did OVERRATE her and her ability, that she could come off a month or longer layoff and be able to compete and win a Grand Slam.

I AM SO HAPPY TO BE HERE!

I agree. Picking Justine over players with much better clay results was stupid. She is not Serena; she can't come off 8 months leave and win a tournament just like that.

Hardcourts are Serena's best surface she comes back after eight months off and wins the fifth biggest event on the calendar. *She never had to face Tatiana Garbin though.

justine takes 1/4th of that time off comes back plays on her favorite surface struggles against formerly retired new mom Sandrine...then goes out in str8ts to *Tatiana Garbin......GO FIGURE.

Difference is: No one is giving either sister ANY chance whatsoever to winning the tournament. Justine was the FAVOURITE, ask Wertheim...big difference.

I have to agree...Volcana..

I mean people really give it a rest..I'm all for being excited over a Justine loss but I'd rather it be after she's healthy and to my fav not under these circumstances. This proves nothing. We don't know what shape she's in or how well she will do because she's coming back from illness. I suspect it's going to take her less time to get her legs under her than most since it's not an injury she's coming back from and she doesn't have to think or worry about re-injuring anything out there.

I just wish some people would stop running their mouths so much but I don't control anyone but myself so I ignore most like I do when V & S lose a match.
